摘要: A 3.5-m gravity core taken from the Guaymas Basin, Gulf of California, was analyzed for lipids, humates, kerogens, and C1 to C8 hydrocarbons. The analyses were interest due high geothermal gradient observed in Basin strong petroliferous odor sediment. Analyses by gas chromatography (GC), GC-mass spectrometry, stable isotope mass spectrometry. bulk organic matter (humates kerogens) marine origin diagenetically immature. molecular markers hydrocarbons, fatty acids, ketones a predominantly autochthonous origin. small variable component allochthonous lipids terrestrial plants also present. Methane principally biogenic origin, but lower sections contained significant concentrations (7 μg g−1 dry sediment) petrogenic C2
