摘要: This chapter explores the role that transportation engineering, economic planning, and community engagement play in development of a lightrail system station Sun Valley, Colorado, one poorest neighborhoods state. It describes how such case can be used to teach principles social justice, sustainable engineering undergraduate classroom. Students course “Sustainable Engineering Design” at Colorado School Mines were asked study Valley community, meet with members project not only as sustainability but significant justice dimensions. examines challenges rewards integrating sciences this kind real-world context, emphasizing importance Cech’s critiques depoliticization meritocracy culture.
