摘要: Stem cells are key players in the development and maintenance of specific mammalian tissues, their presence has been long established blood, skin, intestine. The discovery stem central peripheral nervous systems (CNS PNS) is a relatively recent event. First, continued neurogenesis (neuron generation) adult pointed to long-lived progenitor cell (1). Isolation stem-like from embryonic CNS, including basal forebrain (2,3), cerebral cortex (4), hippocampus (5), spinal cord (6), PNS (7) as well evidence for multipotent, progenitors vivo (8, 9, 10) indicated that they important components developing system (Fig. 1). Much excitement surrounded isolation known neurogenic (neuron-generating) zones (the subventricular zone hippocampal dentate gyrus) rat, primate, human (reviewed ref. 11). More areas not previously considered be neurogenic, such (12,13) neocortex (14,15), suggests may more widespread feature than imagined
