摘要: Exercise is inherently linked with the production of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) resulting in augmented oxidative stress post-exercise. Antioxidant supplements have been proposed to reduce exercise-induced stress, but this alleviation can potentially negate signalling pathways mediated by RONS. This thesis presents novel findings on consumption antioxidant effects habitual supplementation following a cycling sportive recreational cyclists (chapters 1 2). Consumption not associated age, experience or weekly training hours; nor do they provide additional protection reducing completion sportive. The final two experimental chapters assessed effect basal levels endogenous antioxidants response steady-state (chapter 4). And polyphenol recovery, markers inflammation performance trained 5). Habitual did affect baseline concentrations superoxide dismutase-1 (SOD1), dismutase-2 (SOD2) glutathione peroxidase-1 (GPx-1); cycling. Supplementation drink attenuate inflammation, improve compared placebo.
