摘要: Cases of the acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) have been reported in countries throughout world. Initial surveillance studies Central Africa suggest an annual incidence AIDS 550 to 1000 cases per million adults. The male female ratio is 1:1, with age- and sex-specific rates greater females less than 30 years age males over 40. Clinically, Africans often characterized by a diarrhea-wasting syndrome, opportunistic infections, such as tuberculosis, cryptococcosis, cryptosporidiosis, or disseminated Kaposi9s sarcoma. From 1 18% healthy blood donors pregnant women many 27 88% prostitutes antibodies human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). present infection approximately 0.75% among general population East Africa. disease transmitted predominantly heterosexual activity, parenteral exposure transfusions unsterilized needles, perinatally from infected mothers their newborns, will continue spread rapidly where economic cultural factors favor these modes transmission. Prevention control HIV through educational programs bank screening should be immediate public health priority for all African countries.
