The linewidths of monofluorostearic acids in lecithin vesicles have been measured as a function 19 F substituent position and temperature. 2. decrease steeply towards the terminal methyl group alkyl chain. change can be attributed to molecular motion chain bilayer. results are consistent with similar spin label experiments by W.L. Hubbell H.M. McConnell ( J. Am. Chem. Soc. , 93 (1971) 914).
