To analyze our experiences, we conducted case series study of retroperitoneal cases in hospital. Materials methods Twenty-nine patients whom abscesses were diagnosed at hospital reviewed January 2007 to 2014 for the purpose analyzing presenting symptoms, diagnostic tools, microbiology, treatment methods, mortality. Results Of 29 reviewed, genitourinary origin was most common source accounted 51.7% patients, perinephric main type abscess. Diabetes mellitus, previous surgery, immunocompromised factors. The clinical manifestations fever (65.5%), back pain (37.9%), abdominal (20.7%). Escherichia coli prevalent pathogen (31.3%), followed by Klebsiella pneumoniae (25%). A polymicrobial 13.8% infections. An anaerobic only found one gastrointestinal origin. Computed tomography magnetic resonance imaging be accurate tools sensitivities 88.5% 100%, respectively. Percutaneous drainage commonly performed origin, whereas surgical preferred overall mortality rate 3.4%, death reported. Conclusion exhibit insignificant manifestation varied Both computed shown reliable early K. pneumoniae Taiwanese especially according presentation.
