摘要: Fathead minnows, Pimephales promelas, were exposed for 129 days to Lake Superior water acidified with sulfuric acid by means of a flow-through toxicant injection system. The effects chronic stress (pH 6.5, 6.0, 5.5, 5.0) on gill histology examined. Most the histological seen at pH 5.5 and 5.0 confined primarily changes in numbers, distribution, morphology chloride cells. At low levels there tend be more cells epithelium an increased percentage these secondary lamellae. In contrast normal cells, from fish frequently had apical pits while some bulbous evaginations. occurrence structural during exposure suggests that may involved acclimation stress.
