摘要: Limited studies have compared the effect of prenatal or postnatal exposure to different severities famine on risk developing diabetes. We aimed measure association between diabetes in adulthood and degrees early life (during period) during China’s Great Famine (1959–1962). Data from 3967 individuals were included (a total 2115 areas severely affected by famine, 1858 moderately areas, 6 excluded due missing data). A 2335 famine-exposed further divided into those exposed fetal stage, childhood adolescence/young adulthood. constructed a difference-in-differences model compare HbA1c fasting plasma glucose among participants intensity at stages. Logistic analyses used as measures levels severity Individuals who had been period, childhood, adolescence/adulthood lived area 0.31%, 0.20% 0.27% higher HbA1c, respectively, (all p < 0.01) with unexposed individuals. After adjusting for age, sex, smoking status, education level waist circumference, severe stage (OR 1.90, 95% CI 1.12, 3.21) 1.44, 1.06, 1.97) significantly odds estimates. Unexposed living comparable prevalence 1.22, 0.80, 1.87). significant interaction periods was found (p < 0.05). Exposure period may predict an increased These results China indicate that both offer critical time windows determination
