摘要: Summary Experimental allergic encephalomyelitis could be induced in rabbits by injection Freund's complete adjuvant of either peptide 1–44 or 45–87 rabbit myelin basic protein. In order to localize the encephalitogenic determinant present 1–44, several smaller derivative peptides were prepared and examined. Peptic 15–44 thrombic 1–31 as active whereas peptic 1–14 18–38 BrCN 22–44 virtually inactive. Weak activity was shown 1–21. These results provide evidence that a major lies within sequence 15–31. The essentially destroyed oxidation methionine-21 methionine sulfoxide; methylation Met-21, on other hand, appeared relatively ineffective eliminating encephalitogenicity 1–44.
