摘要: Adequate management of a patient with progressing stroke should include the following. (1) Understanding pathophysiologic mechanisms causing cerebral infarction. (2) prompt diagnosis. When possibility is considered by physician, it automatically becomes priority (3) Prompt clinical and laboratory evaluation be initiated. (4) institution anticoagulant treatment unless contraindicated appropriate. Heparin followed coumadin used most commonly. (5) If there not cessation progression over next 1--3 hr (following adequate anticoagulation), have repeat CAT scan, in many instances, carotid angiogram to investigate misdiagnosis or that an ulcerated atherosclerotic plaque present releasing emboli affected anticoagulation. (6) any occurs, question antiedema raised.
