摘要: Abstract Alcohol abuse is a widespread problem among those at risk for and living with HIV can impact transmission disease progression. In this study we sought to use the simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV)-macaque model evaluate immunological virological changes in genital microenvironment of females exposed chronic alcohol. Female rhesus macaques were treated alcohol (n=6) or isocaloric sucrose 3 months then inoculated SIVmac251. To assess effects on SIV microenvironment, quantified plasma levels, measured inflammatory cells fluids, characterized microbial flora by gram stains over 10 weeks post-SIV infection.
