摘要: There are few nonhuman primate models of enhanced HIV susceptibility. Such can improve comprehension acquisition risk factors and provide rigorous testing platforms for preclinical prevention strategies. This paper reviews past, current, proposed research on macaque identifies areas where modeling is significantly lacking. We compare different experimental approaches practical considerations designing susceptibility studies. Modifiable (mucosal systemic coinfections, hormonal contraception, rectal lubricants) non-modifiable (hormonal fluctuations) highlighted. Risk via vaginal, rectal, penile challenge routes discussed. no consensus the best statistical model evaluating increased susceptibility, additional required. The use would benefit multiple facets field, including basic pathogenesis studies as well vaccine other biomedical preventions pipeline.
