摘要: Majority of the rural households in Kenya depend on agriculture as a source food and livelihood. Agricultural productivity has been declining due to many factors resulting increased insecurity country. Consequently, there is renewed interest promoting drought-tolerant crops such sorghum which thrives arid semiarid lands developing world. However, performance production among smallholder farmers still remained low. This study was thus carried out identify that influence technical efficiency Machakos Makindu districts lower eastern Kenya. Collected data farm farmer characteristics were analysed by use descriptive statistics Tobit model. Result highlights show influenced positively formal education level household, experience farming, membership associations, hired labour, advice, manure. Surprisingly household size, meant enhance had negative influence. To increase efficiency, efforts should focus improving information flows agronomic practices. Farmers also be encouraged form actively participate various learning pooling labour resources, hence efficiency.
