摘要: It is clear from the discussions in previous chapters that hippocampus contains neural codes are experience-dependent. Although these typically interpreted terms of location an animal its environment (i.e. place fields), context-dependent variability (see Chapters 1, 2, and 5) firing characteristics cells suggests hippocampal neurons not representing only absolute sensory space (Nadel et al., 1985). Hippocampus may code information about spatial context a situation so it can identify changes significance environmental cues (Eichenbaum 1999; Mizumori 1999b). Such function would be particularly useful during new learning.
