摘要: Abstract Background We have previously reported that combining low doses of oxazepam and metyrapone (OX/MET) reduces intravenous cocaine self-administration without affecting stress-hormone levels. hypothesized the combination OX/MET would also inhibit reinstatement or methamphetamine seeking induced by presentation a conditioned reinforcer stress hormone levels not be influenced this treatment. Methods Male rats were implanted with jugular catheters trained to self-administer during daily 2-h sessions. During training, delivery was paired tone illumination house light. Following stable self-administration, placed into forced abstinence. cue-reactivity testing, back operant chambers responding only resulted in reinforcer; no delivered. Blood collected on last day testing (either 15-min session) assess plasma corticosterone. Results The response-contingent reliably maintained following vehicle pretreatment. Pretreatment dose-related attenuation both seeking. Corticosterone significantly different at end session, but session. Conclusion These data suggest may useful blocking ability environmental cues stimulate effect is entirely dependent
