摘要: Liquid- or solid substrate-cultured Penicillium polonicum administered in feed to rats over several days evokes a histopathological response kidney involving apoptosis and abnormal mitosis proximal tubules. The amphoteric toxin is yet only partly characterized, but can be isolated from cultured sporulating biomass fraction that soluble water ethanol, exchangeable on either anion- cation-exchange resins. After weeks of treatment renal tubule distortion became striking account karyocytomegaly, even for nearly two years remained asymptomatic. Extract batch substrate fermentation P. shredded wheat was incorporated into during four consecutive days, also given as an aqueous solution by oral gavage vervet monkey daily 10 days. Treatment asymptomatic both types animal. Rat evident the typical karyomegaly. In contrast there no such primate; neither creatinine clearance nor any haematological characteristic serum component concentration deviated control historical data this primate. discussed concerning other negative findings pigs hamsters. Renal karyomegaly, common rat persistent exposure ochratoxin A, not known humans suspected being exposed more than usual trace amounts dietary A. Therefore present question assumptions human A conforms rat.
