Transverse myelitis in a patient with long-standing ankylosing spondylitis.

摘要: A n kylosing spondylitis is rep o rted to involve not only the joints but other or - gans as well. Among these extra-articu- lar invo l ve m e t s , uncommon compli cations associated with nervous system such single root lesions, compres sion of myelum and cauda equina syndrome have also been documented. Here we present a patient long- standing ankylosing wh developed spastic paraparesis. Exten sive study find cause paraparesis failed therefore led conclusion that this was suf- fering from transverse myelitis. Similar reports in past attributed an association multiple scler sis; however, suggest ings support diagnosis rare complication unknown etiology.
