摘要: Chronic musculoskeletal pain syndromes are common problems, but the etiology, pathogenesis, and pathology of many them very poorly understood. Because currently used nomenclature suggests an understanding that we do not have, I propose names like "myofascial pain," "tension myalgia," "FM" be abandoned in favor more indefinite (but honest) terms "regional" "generalized rheumatism." No matter what rheumatologists call it, however, condition chronic generalized probably is only one part even includes IBS, headaches, regional migratory numbness, TMJ syndrome, a whole host other somatic syndromes. The same patients end up seeing specialists who themselves feel frustrated with labels at their disposal, these resembling blind men confronting elephant. In this regard, new ACR criteria for diagnosis fibrositis, by emphasizing tenderness ignoring presence syndromes, too circumscribed represent step backward our attempts to understand. Although rheumatisms problems difficult manage frustrating both patient physician, when patience can applied confidence achieved, positive relationship result helped.
