摘要: Stimulation of the vagus nerve produces antiepileptic effects. This is used clinically to treat drug-refractory epilepsies. The mechanisms responsible for these effects depend on activation vagal afferents reaching nucleus solitary tract. review focuses neuroanatomy tract and its relation with locus coeruleus as a preferential anatomical substrate in producing In fact, following transient or permanent inactivation neurons, some stimulation are lost. per se known limit spread seizure duration variety types. due fine chemical norepinephrine pathways that arise from coeruleus, which produce widespread changes cortical areas. These may be sustained by alone, combination co-transmitters. addition, prevent seizures activating serotonin-containing dorsal raphe neurons.
