摘要: Owing to the potential role of tick Amblyomma cooperi in enzootic cycle Rickettsia rickettsii, etiologic agent Brazilian spotted fever (BSF), this study evaluated infection by species A. ticks collected from an area Brazil where BSF is endemic. Among a total 40 adult endemicity state Sao Paulo, PCR analysis detected DNA bellii 16 (40%), and 3 other (7.5%) were positive for previously unidentified spotted-fever-group (SFG) rickettsia. Cultivation Vero cell cultures shell vial technique with individual resulted two isolates R. one isolate genotypically characterized as SFG The established laboratory confirmed be molecular gltA 17-kDa protein-encoding genes electron microscopic analysis. rickettsial could not stably passaged culture laboratory, but early passages suggested that it was closely related parkeri, africae, sibirica. These results do support ecology rickettsii studied, they add more rickettsiae poorly developed list occurring South America.
