(2011) Journal of Nursing Management19, 981–988 Theory-based practice in a major medical centre Aims  This project was designed to improve care quality and nursing staff satisfaction. Background  theory structures thought action as demonstrated by evidence improvement complex health-care settings. administrators selected Modelling Role-Modelling (MRM) for the theory-based goal their strategic plan. Methods  An research approach structured implementation MRM 1-year consultation 2001–2002. Results  Quality health improved according national assessment ratings, well patient satisfaction nurse satisfaction. Conclusions  capacity structure centre. Uniformity language valued nurses allied providers who wished learn holistic style practice. The processes contributed success. Implications management  A positive change carried out large centre with research. Introducing beneficial decision administration that satisfaction. Attention stimulated career development among pursue bachelors, masters, doctoral degrees.
