摘要: Abstract Bisphenol A (BPA) has been described as a estrogenic compound. However, it is used in the production of polycarbonate, epoxy resins and other plastics. Mixed microbial cultures, such activated sludge, have proposed feasible methodology to achieve decontamination wastewater containing BPA. Several studies on biodegradation BPA demonstrated presence 4-hydroxyacetophenone (4HAP), 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde (4HB) 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (A4HB) main metabolic intermediates. The objective present work was study kinetics stoichiometric characteristics aerobic degradation its intermediates by sludge. effect sludge age (SA), concentration each compound analyzed. compounds analyzed an open respirometer. all tested influenced SA, acclimation process, stoichiometry reactions not affected studied conditions. oxidation coefficient (Y O/S ) 10.0 ± 0.5, 5.2 ± 0.2, 3.7 ± 0.2, 3.0 ± 0.1 molO 2  molS −1 for BPA, 4HAP, 4HB, 4HBA, respectively. Based obtained Y values, pathway BPA-acclimated discussed.
