摘要: Eggplant belongs to the Solanaceae family, and it has an important antioxidant capability that been shown counteract oxidation, which is harmful health many diseases. In this present study, we evaluated antigenotoxic effects of six eggplants ((Solanum aculeatissimum Jacq. 'Ma-khuea-lueang'; ML), (Solanum 'Ma-khuea-pro'; MP), 'Ma-khuea-sawoei'; MS), melongena Linn. 'Ma-khuea-khai-tao'; MKT), 'Ma-khuea-muang klom'; MM) torvum Sw. 'Ma-khuea-phuang'; MPH)) against urethane-induced somatic mutation recombination test (SMART) in Drosophila melanogaster hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative DNA damage human lymphocytes. First, determined all eggplant extracts their properties including radical scavenging activities, reducing power total phenolic contents, surprisingly ML extract showed highest level activity. SMART, larvae were fed with each lyophilized eggplant. The results revealed no sample was mutagenic. Interestingly, found had a potent inhibitory effect mutagenicity. Moreover, protective lymphocytes investigated using single-cell gel electrophoresis (comet) assay. treatment cells prevented response peroxide, especially exhibited higher inhibition percentage than other samples. This study demonstrated these seem be safe for consumption could protect damage. Thus, have potential provide benefits associated prevention or reduced risk developing chronic diseases, such as cancer.
