摘要: Background: In the United Kingdom, it is recommended that syphilis should be treated with intramuscular daily procaine penicillin or without oral probenecid for 8 to 21 days. However, has been argued this regimen would unacceptable patients in terms of attendance and volume drug administered, resulting poor compliance. Goal: To assess acceptability compliance 10 17 days attending an East London Genito-Urinary Medicine Clinic a diagnosis syphilis-treponemal infection. Study Design: The notes 210 consecutive infection who had offered treatment penicillin, days, were reviewed retrospectively. Results: Of 42 (20%) declined given doxycycline, amoxicillin, depot injections. 168 accepted depending on stage infection, 90 (54 %) 1.8 g together 500 mg every 6 hours (high-dose regimen), 57 (34%) 0.6 (low-dose (12%) mixed-dose regimens ranging from 0.5 2.4 g. high-dose regimen, 76 (84 complied compared 50 (88%) low-dose regimen. All fully. Conclusions: Daily well-accepted outpatient excellent (88% overall) minimal side effects. Because shown achieve treponemicidal levels cerebrospinal fluid, neurosyphilis those whom cannot excluded. It also could considered concomitant human immunodeficiency virus view possible progression penicillin.
