摘要: The prevalence of sleep apnea was studied in 46 middle- and older-aged men with "essential hypertension." Thirty-four age- weight-similar normotensive were also studied. Fourteen hypertensive three controls had syndrome, as defined greater than ten apneas per hour sleep. Hypertensive tended to be more overweight slightly older the without apnea, but differences not statistically significant. Individual could distinguished by their answers on a questionnaire that elicited symptoms related apnea. Seven treated protriptyline one uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, index (apneas hour) decreased 77% from pretreatment levels while mean blood pressure 149/95 mm Hg 139/90 Hg. Undiagnosed syndrome may associated systemic hypertension many men. In some, cause hypertension, others it contribute another cause.
