摘要: Abstract The conventional test in FeCl3 solution for determining the critical pitting temperature (CPT) of iron-base alloys is a time-consuming procedure. An alternative, electrochemical variant has been used which welded and non-welded duplex stainless steels are coupled via zero resistance ammeter (ZRA). current flowing between two specimens increases abruptly when starts as heated up above CPT, giving rapid measure CPT well other basic information. This technique was applied to determine different compositions. values determined by both methods resulted good agreement. time saving accuracy distinguishing metastable from stable method an advantage over traditional immersion test. effects heat inputs surface finishes on steel welds were investigated using ZRA technique. A brief theory presented basis future experimentation.
