摘要: Incidence rates of head and neck cancers (HNC) associated with human papillomavirus (HPVa) infection are increasing while non-HPV-associated (non-HPVa) HNC cancer decreasing. As nearly all sexually active individuals will acquire an HPV infection, it is important to understand epidemiologic trends HNCs this transmitted disease. We analyzed SEER 9 (1973-2012) 18 data (2000-2012) for HPVa (oropharynx area; OP) non-HPVa (oral cavity OC). were examined by gender, race, rurality, geographic location, time. Joinpoint regression analyses assessed temporal variations. From 1973 2012, OC incidence decreased OP increased, changes largely driven males (whose rate increased 106.2% vs female decrease 10.3%). Males consistently had higher both groups across each registry except Alaska, among blacks changed from significantly above whites below, trend analysis indicated significant differences in over time geography. Analysis found that discordantly varied group gender the registries, as did male/female ratio overall means 4.7 versus 1.7 (only Alaska Georgia having overlapping ranges). Our findings indicate much increases there changing risk between genders, location. The epidemiology complex, locally relevant factors requiring further research elucidation demographic disparities incidence.
