摘要: There is much interest in attaching polyethylene glycol (PEG) and other hydrophilic, neutral polymers to surfaces reduce the extent of protein cell adsorption. Interestingly, these same surface-bound are effective masking surface charge reducing electrokinetic effects such as particle electrophoretic mobility, streaming potential, electroosmosis. It apparent that similar molecular properties responsible for both rejection reduction effects. In this work we compared fibrinogen-rejecting ability effect on mobility three polymer coatings bound polystyrene. The were side-bound dextran, end-bound PEG. results measurements used elucidate importance packing density layer thickness adsorption Protein appears not be sensitive or presence dilute tails a coating, while are. is, however, very availability exposed surface. Finally, unique effectiveness PEG research previous studies. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
