摘要: The world is in need of more effective approaches to controlling tuberculosis. development improved control strategies has been hampered by deficiencies the tools available for detecting Mycobacterium tuberculosis and defining dynamic consequences interaction M. with its human host. Key needs include a highly sensitive, specific nonsputum diagnostic; biomarkers predictive responses therapy; correlates risk disease development; host response-independent markers infection. Tools able sensitively detect quantify total body burden might well be transformative across many needed use cases. Here, we review current state field, paying particular attention changes experimental paradigms that would facilitate discovery, validation, such tools.
