摘要: Haptoglobin (Hp) is an acute phase protein that binds the free hemoglobin (Hb), thus preventing iron loss and renal damage. Hp also has antioxidative immunomodulatory properties. Three phenotypes have been identified in human: Hp1-1, Hp2-1, Hp2-2. polymorphisms related to susceptibility of various diseases. In this study, we aimed assess possible association polymorphism Schistosoma parasites infection central Sudan. We investigated distribution serum 125 (93 S. mansoni, 13 haematobium 19 infected with both "co-infection") parasitologically confirmed individuals 208 healthy served as control. determined by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis followed benzidine staining. Our study revealed Hp1-1 percentage frequency was significantly higher than control 51% 26% respectively. data suggest phenotype may upsurge
