Proposal for a reference model of the middle atmosphere of the southern hemisphere

摘要: Abstract Available rocketsonde information has been used to compile tables of monthly mean temperature, pressure, density and zonal wind for the middle atmosphere southern hemisphere with purpose revising similar presented COSPAR earlier. The altitude range is 25 80 km in steps 5 km. latitude 0° 70°S a 10° step. compatability different sets temperature measurements discussed. Mean values pressure obtained are compared northern model values. Large differences between hemispheres (up 20°C 20–30% 30–50 m/s wind) imply that reference atmospheres such as CIRA should be complemented by climatology.
