摘要: Abstract The Spontaneously Hypertensive rat (SHR) is often described as less behaviorally reactive than its normotensive strain, the Wistar–Kyoto (WKY), although results are somewhat inconsistent across studies. In part, this may be due to lack of a definitive characterization “reactivity.” Still, from identical behavioral tests SHR and WKY studies sometimes conflicting. Further, few comparisons with other rodent strains available these might provide guidance in outlining meaning reactivity. Here, social nonsocial behaviors spatial learning memory were measured male female SHR, WKY, Sprague–Dawley (SD) rats. Systolic blood pressure measurements at adulthood confirmed hypertension SHR. Juvenile play behavior indicated that SHRs more sensitive strain their partner or SD, playing different partners same partners. However, adult dominance (restricted access water competition test) no differences. appeared exhibit attenuated acoustic startle relative SD prepulse inhibition was substantially higher decibel intensities; however, decreased not result during test. Anxiety-related elevated plus maze most prominent possibly poorer motor coordination by rotarod performance. Elevated well did differ between strains. Performance NCTR complex Morris significantly better These do support hypotheses reactivity strain. Rather, they suggest interactions environments capabilities requirements
