摘要: Abstract Palliative care relies heavily on communication. Although some guidelines do address difficult communication, less is known about how to handle conversations with patients who express ambivalence or resistance such care. Clinicians also struggle support patient autonomy when they disagree choices. Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques may help these responses. Specifically, MI as reflective statements and summarizing can reduce a patient's resistance, resolve ambivalence, autonomy. Not all the are applicable, however, in part because palliative clinicians not guide make particular choices but, instead, that consistent values. Some elements from be used improve quality efficacy of conversations.
