摘要: Objectives:To establish predilection sites of obstruction and to investigate clinical factors associated with a poor outcome. Methods:A retrospective study 208 consecutive cases over 48-month period from first-opinion practice. Results:Overall, 91 per cent recovered higher survival rates discrete foreign bodies (94 in dogs 100 cats) as opposed linear (80 63 cats). English bull terriers, springer spaniels, Staffordshire Border collies Jack Russell terriers were over-represented. In dogs, obstructions occurred the jejunum but objects encountered at all points along gastrointestinal tract. A longer duration signs, presence body multiple intestinal procedures significantly increased mortality. Neither degree (partial or complete) nor location was shown have significant influence on survival. Clinical Significance:Prompt presentation, diagnosis surgical intervention improve outcome by bodies. At surgery, minimal number should be performed restore integrity alimentary
