摘要: Abstract Data from a month of continuous surface observations across the Gulf Stream show periodic time variation in position current. The region studied is off Onslow Bay, North Carolina, where current close to edge continental shelf. dominant periods variations correspond offshore winds, but no physical connection apparent. amplitude these variations, or meanders, 10 km. Lunar components, either monthly diurnal, have amplitudes which are, at most, small comparison with those principal meanders. Although meanders Bay may be analogous multiple currents found downstream, their eliminate them as incipient forms large-scale An average section velocity and temperature during observation presented.
