摘要: Wild parrots represent one of the greatest commercial interests in legal trade wild birds. Although it is difficult to quantify, there a considerable illegal parrots. Thirty-six per cent world's parrot species are listed by International Union for Conservation Nature as threatened or near threatened, and 55% these some degree trade. In this paper, we investigate impact protection on number nests that failed because nestlings being taken humans (hereafter nest take) nesting success We collate data take from published unpublished studies Africa, Asia Australasia, including countries sites with without national local measures place. Nest was insignificant Australia, where all were areas both protection. For less developed countries, levels variable between studies, spanning whole range 0 100%. Protection significantly reduced correspondingly increased success. Our results corroborate those Neotropics; thus, advantages appear be independent geographical location political economic conditions. analysed wild-caught before after implementation 1992 Bird Act (which practically eliminated import USA) found no apparent shift imports other global regions Neotropics. suggest conservation globally would benefit similar legislation introduced regions, such EU (15), which responsible more than 60%
