摘要: Summary The analysis of verification procedures livestockdepredations currently employed in Italy underlinesthat they are carried out an empirical mannerand that personnel charged with ge-nerally not trained to perform accurate asses-sment. Therefore, the extent livestock depreda-tion caused by species conservationvalue, such as wolf, and free-roaming dogs maybe highly overestimated. Also, damage compensa-tion laws actually applied many Italian Regionsseem account mostly for social demands clai-mants than management requirements. A prac-tically-based approach should seek achieve there-organisation predation assessment methodsby revision claim validation procedure, tac-kling practical aspect managementon basis reliable data. The differentiation between dog wolf attackson is also discussed on theirbiological behavioural characteristics. re-sults a research project Islandof Elba (Tuscany), where only preda-tors dogs, Abruzzo Re-gion, both wolves present, con-firm possible discriminate, good de-gree accuracy, aggressionon livestock.
