摘要: Purpose: The goal of this multi-institutional retrospective study children with intracranial ependymoma was to identify risk factors associated unfavorable overall survival (OS) and event-free (EFS). Patients Methods: Clinical data, including demographics, tumor location, spread, histology, details surgery, radiation treatment, chemotherapy were collected. characteristics univariate multivariate analyses for OS EFS are presented. Results: Eleven U.S. institutions contributed 83 patients treated from 1987 1991. at 5 7 years 57% 46%, 42% 33%. 3 age or younger differed the older group by more common infratentorial less gross total resection (GTR). postoperative use rather than radiation. This had worse (P <0.01) group. Other young age. GTR World Health Organization (WHO) II grade histology significant adverse in analyses. shared same except analysis, which only borderline significance = 0.05). Progression original present 89% patients, major pattern recurrence. Adjuvant craniospinal M 0 did not significantly change EFS. Conclusions: Adverse outcome childhood is related (3 younger), (grade 3), degree surgical (less GTR). New approaches, particularly local control needed improve survival.
