摘要: This paper presents a new approach to the subject of crack instability based on J-integral R-curve characterizing material's resistance fracture. The results are presented in chronological order their development (including Appendices I and II). First, nondimensional material parameter, T, "tearing modulus," is defined. For fully plastic (nonhardening) conditions, relationships developed for various configurations, including some common test piece surface flaw, microflaws. Appendix generalizes these case II treats confined yielding cases. plane-strain crack-tip slip field but may be modified plane-stress fields most cases by merely adjusting constants. Moreover, an accounted-for compliance loading system included analysis. Finally, III compilation tearing modulus, properties materials from literature convenience comparing other with experience.
