摘要: Abstract Using multiple case study data obtained from seven tourist resorts in the Maldives, this explores human resource management (HRM) roles and extent to which these reflect strategic (SHRM) characteristics. The findings show that although strategic, administrative, welfare, employee advocacy change agent are part of HR department’s repertoire resorts, driven by market competitive conditions, many professionals increasingly adopting SHRM order enhance organisational effectiveness. Along with roles, identifies context-specific competencies required for carry out their roles. also highlights importance a role operating complex, dynamic unpredictable hospitality industry general, international hotel chains particular, effectiveness achieve advantage.
