摘要: Abstract The effect of compaction and covering during storage beef cattle (Bos taurus) farmyard manure (FYM) on ammonia (NH3), nitrous oxide (N2O) methane (CH4) emissions was determined. Gaseous emission measurements were made over three separate periods between 90 109 days. the different treatments chemical composition also Compaction carried out as put into store compacted manures covered with plastic sheeting. significantly reduced NH3 from by 90% first summer period ( P 0.05 ) . Over subsequent FYM small unaffected treatment. However, second heavy persistent rainfall heap establishment following week appeared to reduce markedly. low ammonium-N content in third may have risk relative compaction/covering N2O ca. 30% period. Subsequent Methane treatment decreased yet increased It would appear that compacting heaps does potential both when contains relatively high contents. Additional benefits are N K retained for agronomic benefit.
