摘要: Microbial cultures were performed on 163 lymph-node biopsies from a variety of sites and in all age groups. Growth occurred 76 (47%), 41 which considered contaminants. The final diagnoses as follows: mycobacterial infection (27 biopsies), coccidioidomycosis (two cultures), nonspecific inflammatory, changes (82 malignancy (51 Whipple's disease (one culture). culture was the sole means diagnosing nine cases infection. fluorescent stain demonstrated acid-fast bacilli only 16 biopsies, twice frequency with standard Ziehl-Neelson stain. Other bacterial isolates uncertain significance most instances. Routine for mycobacteria fungi is recommended lymph nodes that show granulomatous changes. investigation patient unexplained
