摘要: Background: Medicinal plants have been playing important roles in the treatment of different diseases. Peganum harmala is a famous medicinal plant used Iranian traditional medicine, due to antimicrobial compounds found its seeds and roots. Objectives: The main objective present study was investigate antibacterial activities alcoholic extracts P. on MRSA strains cytotoxicity assessment ethanolic extract HEK-293 cell line using MTT assay. Methods: During an 11-month descriptive cross-sectional study, 90 isolated from hospitalized patients ICU wards were investigated. Micro-broth dilution method employed evaluate effects strains. cells exposed concentrations evaluated Results: minimum inhibitory concentration observed range 3.125 mg/ml 25 mg/mL. most activity be at 12.5 concentration. inhibited by MIC50 MIC90 mg/mL mg/ml, respectively. assay showed that more than 0.5 toxic caused 50% death. Conclusions: results revealed very effective against may useful treat some infections although further investigation recommended assess their toxicity prior vivo use.
