摘要: There is robust evidence that climate change will modify the frequency and intensity of extreme climatic events. The consequences for terrestrial biota may be dramatic, but are yet to elucidated. well-established IUCN Red List does not, example, include any explicit quantification current level exposure events in species-based risk assessment. Using globally distributed data cyclones droughts as well information on distribution 5,760 mammals (species subspecies) we: (1) define with significant those an overlap at least 25% their extant geographic range areas have been impacted by either or droughts; (2) pinpoint ≥75% being highest exposure. Although a species’ negative impacts from depends not only its also intrinsic sensitivity adaptive capacity, identifying taxa currently exposed can help reduce uncertainty species likely resilient future impacts, complement extinction assessments provide more informed evaluation conservation status, better guide management.
