摘要: Contact dermatitis is a significant health problem affecting the elderly. Impaired epidermal barrier function and delayed cutaneous recovery after insult enhances susceptibility to both irritants allergens. Exposure more numerous potential sensitizers for greater durations influences rate of allergic contact in this population. Medical co-morbidities, including stasis venous ulcerations, further exacerbate clinical picture. However, while these factors tend increase degree sensitization elderly, waning immunity can actually decrease such propensity. This interplay intrinsic extrinsic makes generalization on trends older adults challenging. The literature has varying reports overall incidence with advancing age. Nevertheless, it does clearly show that sensitivity topical medicaments increases Irritant studies are consistent, less reactivity (to irritants) compared younger skin. Diagnosis irritant based thorough history, complete skin examination, comprehensive patch testing. mainstay therapy avoidance offending chemical substances use along systemic therapies, depending severity condition.
