摘要: Ion transport across the mitochondrial inner and outer membranes is central to function, including regulation of oxidative phosphorylation cell death. Although essential for ATP production by mitochondria, recent findings have confirmed that c-subunit synthase also houses a large conductance uncoupling channel, permeability transition pore (mPTP), persistent opening which produces osmotic dysregulation membrane This review will discuss advances in understanding molecular components mPTP, its regulatory mechanisms how these contribute directly physiological as well pathological roles.
