摘要: BACKGROUND During Ramadan, physiological changes are expected to result from both long-term dietary restriction and partial sleep loss. HYPOTHESIS We speculated that Ramadan fasting has deleterious effects on muscle performances orthostatic tolerance. METHODS There were 11 senior fighter pilots tested three occasions during the first week of (Beg-R), fourth (End-R) a control period, 2 mo after (C). Each test session consisted an assessment strength endurance knee extensors elbow flexors analysis HR BP responses stress imposed by 80 degrees head-up tilt. RESULTS Body weight decreased 2.7% at End-R in comparison with C period (p < 0.01). Maximum isometric (MVC) flexor muscles immediately (by 10-12%; p 0.05). Muscular 35 70% MVC lower (-28%, -22%, respectively; The tilt was accompanied higher increase heart response than orthostasis Beg-R periods, decrease pulse pressures 0.001). These alterations associated fall about 7% plasma volume. CONCLUSIONS data demonstrate leads impairment muscular Further studies needed verify impact these +Gz
