摘要: The application of piezo-ceramic elements for measuring shear and compression wave velocities in the soil mass is increasing day-by-day. Depending upon configuration polarity, these can either be used as benders or extenders, which transmit receive waves, respectively. Though, several researchers have successfully employed characterizing based on velocities, determination “time lag” between input output waves remains debatable. Even, existing literature does not clearly present response with respect to frequency excitation type material characterized. With this view, extensive investigations were made capture performance by changing their (a) wiring (i.e., series parallel) (b) polarization same opposite) compacted soils different characteristics moisture content, dry density soil). Details methodology are presented paper special attention has been paid address various problems attenuation, crosstalk phenomena, near field effect overshooting transmitting waves) that associated signal interpretation may yield misleading results.
