摘要: UNLABELLED The objective of this study was to determine the role laparoscopic lower para-aortic lymphadenectomy and positron emission tomography (PET) scan in staging cervical carcinoma. Ninety consecutive patients with FIGO stage IB2-IIIB were scheduled for lymphadenectomy. EXCLUSION CRITERIA obvious metastatic nodes on computed (CT)/PET or PET-CT. procedure stopped when a node positive frozen section. In ten patients, no performed as scheduled. Forty-seven operated retroperitoneally, 22 transperitoneally, 21 cases converted from retroperitoneally transperitoneally. Median number removed 6 (1-24). 10 80 metastases diagnosed. Despite nonsuspect PET result, 5 44 had nodes. Two-year survival 76% 16% without metastases, respectively (P = 0.0001). Laparoscopic showed 13% patients. subgroup negative scan, 11% metastases. low morbidity identified group an extremely poor prognosis.
